How to raise an entrepreneur child
instead of choosing the future job of our children
Compiled and compiled by: Dr Toufan Daneshmand
All parents have dreams for their children, which sometimes may include the future and imagine them in a certain job and social position. Regardless of the fact that our children are independent characters, they will have talents, interests and certainly a unique future. In this article, points are discussed that may be the weaknesses of their children and seem unusual to many parents, while these personality traits, if properly discovered and recognized, can lead any child or adult to significant personal and professional success. .
This important matter can solve many economic problems of societies to a great extent; Because the entrepreneurial personality and creative mind can create a pure opportunity from any situation or even threat
If your child does not like school or does not get good grades in his studies
So maybe he is a wonderful child entrepreneur!
All children dream
All children have dreams and passion for certain things, but it is very common for adults around them to tell them, "You should study more!", "Focus on what you are doing!" Or insisting on improving grades with private tutors, they destroy their dreams and suppress their talents! Unfortunately, even the educational system in the world is such that by insisting that "it is better to become a doctor, engineer or lawyer!" It misses the opportunity to discover and nurture the creative talents of a child entrepreneur.
Regarding his personal experience, Harold mentions in one of his speeches that:
"By most people's standards, I'm the dumbest person in this hall! Because I was never accepted in school and I always had problems with school! … My parents got me a French tutor and I'm still terrible at it! When I was in the second grade, I won a speech contest in the city, but no one ever told me, "This kid is a great speaker." It doesn't concentrate, but it energizes people everywhere." And no one ever took action or even encouraged me to grow in the field of speaking! Instead, I had a private tutor in the lessons I was weak!
Despite all this, in 2008, at MIT's Master of Entrepreneurship Program, with the presence of entrepreneurs from all over the world, I won the highest score among the speakers.
Respect your children's dreams and don't let their ideas be suppressed!
Children express their dreams or passions in their games in different ways. We only need to look at them carefully and encourage and support them to make their dreams come true.
When we were all children, we thought of every impossible idea, and since "impracticality" didn't occur to us, we thought of them as real. But gradually, by recording the defaults and learning the rules that have been common in the world until today, many ideas die because of "impracticality"!
Whereas if children are raised as entrepreneurial children from the beginning, they learn from the same age that they can change any problem. And they can find solutions for the obstacles in their way. From Harold's point of view, there are so many ideas in the world that there is a solution in someone's mind for all problems. .
Teach people to fish instead of giving them fish! .
The proverb "Teach people to fish instead of giving them fish!" Allegory is perfect for this. If we have more entrepreneurs in our societies who are concerned about producing and starting new businesses, people will not simply wait for donations or providing opportunities from the government, and they can design jobs according to their individual abilities and interests and even become rich. .
Unfortunately, many parents teach their children what not to do: "Don't touch, don't bite, don't swear!" Or they encourage you to "look for a really good job!" And educational systems only introduce certain disciplines as the disciplines of intelligent people: "medicine, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architecture, civil engineering and so on"; On the other hand, the media and social networks push people to become "models, singers, sports heroes, or, for example, photographers" and all these are examples of the prevalence of consumerism, occupational consumerism! It is very unfortunate that even in MBA courses in universities, they do not teach entrepreneurship but prepare them to work in big companies.
Having mental disorders is never an obstacle to success!
Cameron Herrold mentioned his own attention deficit disorder and said: "I have 18 of the 19 symptoms of this disorder." And further, contradicting the public's mindset to rush to quickly treat such disorders at a mild level such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), bipolar disorder and depression with medication, he says: "Did you know that bipolar disorder is called the manager's disorder? »
Ted Turner, Steve Jobs, all three founders of Netscape, Steve Gerrotson, Jim Clark are just examples of thousands of influential managers who suffered from bipolar disorder. Now imagine what honors and innovations the world would be deprived of if they were given Ritalin (a drug) from childhood, and imagine what talents could be created by pressuring them with the words "adapt yourself to the system and be a good student!" are suffocated
"Entrepreneurs aren't students, and they pick up the game quickly," Herrold says. And in confirmation of this statement, he gives an example of himself that he always cheated in university exams and hired his classmates to do his accounting homework. And he believes that as an entrepreneur, he does not need accounting knowledge and only needs to know how and which accountant to hire. The most interesting thing about Zand
In confirming his claims, Gay Herold is quoted from his words in books that are currently the references of the management accounting course that he cheated to get a passing grade in that course in the past!
Entrepreneurship, inherent or acquired?
There are signs in children that only by focusing and strengthening some of them, can make them successful entrepreneurs in the future. Entrepreneurship doesn't require an MBA, and you don't have to rely on innate talents or acquired skills.
You can raise your child to be an entrepreneur with any level of ability. You don't have to keep buying different games for your child, you can give them the opportunity to create games. Money in the pocket naturally drives children to be interested in employment. In his personal experience of raising his own children, Harold mentions: "I have taught my children to look for items in the house and yard that need repair and while introducing them to me, offer them a solution. Then we negotiate how much I will pay them for doing what. They do not have a fixed salary, but they have countless opportunities to find more problems and purer opportunities, and at the same time, they learn the skill of negotiation.
Give the child entrepreneur a chance to tell you a story
Your child does not have to fall asleep with your stories or his books all night long. At least half a week, leave it to them to tell you a story. You can sometimes challenge them with limits. For example, put a red shirt, a doll, a blue tie and a laptop in front of them and tell them that they should include these in their story.
Some of the entrepreneurship characteristics that should be strengthened in children and make them into a child entrepreneur are: goal setting, tenacity, self-reflection, cooperation, leadership and recognition of values. !
The truth is that entrepreneurs can change the world. Raise our children to be entrepreneurial children
.
How to have entrepreneurial children
Entrepreneurship is a mixture of innate and acquired competencies, and the culture in which people grow up has a significant impact on the acquisition of an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Give your children responsibility and introduce them to saving
Teaching responsibility is perhaps the greatest gift parents can give their children. Allow your child to help you with tasks. Even if it bothers you or spoils things. Responsibility is a prominent element in human success. Responsibility is not inherent, but it grows from the context of the family and as a result of social interactions. Therefore, we must teach children that they have a separate life.
Don't be unhappy with your child's failures, but guide him to the right path with empathy. Games can be an essential factor in the transition to responsibility, so teach your children how to work and how to interact and exchange with others by using game tools. Use rewards properly and use more non-material rewards to motivate children.
• Teach your children how to spot and take advantage of opportunities.
For example, ask them to walk around the house and find things that need fixing. Then negotiate with them and pay them for finding each opportunity instead of bonus money.
• Remind them of the value of money
You have to create this understanding in your children that their comfortable life is the result of sacrifice and tiresome efforts of their parents. They should learn the value of money and learn how to earn and spend it. Therefore, create this feeling in them as if they are in charge of running a business and they have to do trial and error in this way and fight to achieve their goals and overcome obstacles.
• Teach your child transformative and risk-taking thinking
According to many entrepreneurs, change is the only constant. Therefore, children should be given the opportunity to experience different jobs and tasks. Entrepreneurs are risk takers and can easily move away from their comfort zone and try different professions or discover new opportunities.
• Encourage your children to get academic degrees, but don't force them.
Acquiring university scientific degrees will be a useful experience for children, but it should not limit them in the shackles of degree orientation. In this way, they gain deep insight into various topics.
• Raise healthy and healthy children
Entrepreneurs work hard and work long hours, so they need to be physically fit to be mentally healthy.
